Despite last
night’s heavy snowfall, we trudged out to the farmers market early this morning
to pick up some root veggies for this week’s meal plan. I’m excited about
tonight’s cooking especially, as I think hubby and I are finally getting close
to perfecting our gluten free beer stew. And as soon as we do, I’m planning to
share it with you.
Also, as you can
see from my freezer stock, I have a ton of staples in the freezer that will
help me make quick, cheap, and easy meals this week using some of the local
stuff we picked up this morning. With things like Big
batches of frozen beans, frozen
brown rice, and Frozen
Soup Stock, I’m set to make simple soups, stews, and stir
fries all week long. Stuff that’s perfect for cold, snowy days!
So here’s what
I’m working with this week from the farmers market:
* 5 organic
parsnips * 3
lbs of organic carrots
* 1 organic
radish * 5
lbs apples
* 2 organic
turnips
(All picked up
for just $15)
If you'd like to

Hi Danielle,
ReplyDeleteYour weekly, locavore-ish meal plans are so helpful. When I shop for organic food in my neighborhood I wince at the prices, so it has become incredibly important for me to plan my meals and shop carefully to stay within budget. Buying bulk and shopping in season at the farmer's market helps me a lot. It's always a pleasure to explore your blog.
Thank you so much for sharing this helpful post on the Healthy, Happy, Green & Natural Blog Hop! I appreciate it!
All the best, Deborah
Thanks so much Deborah! Glad you enjoyed the meal plan and thank you for hosting the blog hop :)
DeleteIt looks like it will be a tasty week in your house :-) I'm really intrigued by those Chocolate Carrot Scones - they look scrumptious. I like that you are using so many veggies from the Farmer's Market :-) Thank you for sharing your menu plan with us at the Hearth and Soul hop.
ReplyDeleteThanks, April! We like the scones a lot :) I just made some this weekend using mashed parsnips instead of carrots and they were also surprisingly good!
