Maximize your food production in any small space! Learn to grow herbs, fruit, and veggies in containers and control your food supply.
Whether you have a balcony, patio, or small backyard, this event will show you how to create a productive food garden anywhere.
In this workshop you will learn to select plants and containers based on your unique space. We'll also discuss soil, watering, fertilizing, common pests and problems, and companion planting to maximize your harvests. You'll even have the chance to select and plant your own seeds to get you started!
What to expect:
- A printed handout
- A presentation from an experienced instructor
- Q&A
- Time to plant your own seeds to take home
Event will be held outdoors at 3470 Turner St., Vancouver, BC. Please dress appropriately and bring a box or bag to take your small potted plant home in.
A small selection of container appropriate plants will also be available for sale.
What kinds of things can you grow in containers? Even something as small as a railing planter or a 6" pot can support a supply of radishes, lettuce, bok choy, strawberries and more. Even tomatoes!! I'll show you how to get started :)
